Up nextNumber Line 0–100 →Three 0–100 number lines labelled in tens, with a small tick for every one in between. They help children jump in tens (34, 44, 54) and then in ones, which is how most mental maths with two-digit numbers works. Ask where 47 goes: between 40 and 50, nearer to 50.

Number line activities
- Count on: start at a number and make jumps to the right. Count back: jump to the left.
- Ask “which number is halfway between?” for two numbers on the 0 to 100 line.
- Draw the jumps as little arcs above the line so the working shows.
- Pick two numbers on the line and count the jumps between them: that is the difference.
More to print: the other number lines, ten frames for counting to 20, and the hundreds chart.
