Southern Hemisphere Colouring Pages

Colouring pages for New Zealand and Australia: Remembrance poppies for Remembrance Day and Anzac Day, and a summer Christmas with pōhutukawa, beach scenes, native birds and Meri Kirihimete cards. All 29 pages are free to color online or download as print-ready PDFs (US Letter and A4).

How to use these pages

These pages are drawn for families, classrooms and kindergartens in New Zealand and Australia, where Christmas falls in summer and the red poppy is worn for remembrance. Every page is original line art: tap a colour and tap any shape to fill it in your browser, or download the free A4 or US Letter PDF and colour it by hand.

The remembrance set has poppies, poppy wreaths, a poppy mandala, rosemary, a dove of peace and a "Lest we forget" page. The red poppy is worn around Remembrance Day on 11 November and, in New Zealand and Australia, especially for Anzac Day on 25 April (NZ History; Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs). The pages are calm and respectful: flowers and symbols of peace, with no weapons, soldiers or flags.

The summer Christmas set has the pōhutukawa, known as New Zealand's Christmas tree because its crimson flowers bloom around Christmas (Department of Conservation), a tūī feeding at the flowers (DOC: tūī), a pīwakawaka (fantail) with a bauble (DOC: fantail), kōwhai flowers (NZ Plant Conservation Network), beach Christmas scenes with jandals and a sandcastle, and "Meri Kirihimete" (Merry Christmas in te reo Māori) cards.

How we made these pages: we draw nature, birds and everyday objects, not Māori carving, kōwhaiwhai, koru or other cultural designs, and we use macrons as Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori recommends. Spotted a mistake? Please email support@colouringnest.com and we will fix it.

Frequently asked questions

When is Remembrance Day?

Remembrance Day (Armistice Day) is on 11 November each year. In New Zealand and Australia the red poppy is also worn for Anzac Day on 25 April, so these pages work for both days.

Why is the pōhutukawa called the New Zealand Christmas tree?

The pōhutukawa is a native coastal tree that covers itself in crimson flowers in early summer, around Christmas. The Department of Conservation calls it New Zealand's Christmas tree.

What does Meri Kirihimete mean?

Meri Kirihimete means Merry Christmas in te reo Māori. Our cards have it in big bubble letters with "Merry Christmas" underneath.

Are these pages free for schools and kindergartens?

Yes. Print as many copies as you need for home, school, kindergarten or a community event. Please do not resell them or post them on another website.

Is there a PDF to print?

Yes. Every page has free PDF downloads for US Letter and A4 paper, with the picture centered inside print-safe margins. Choose "Download PDF (Letter)" or "Download PDF (A4)" on the page and print at 100% (actual size).
