How to use the letter templates

Every letter and number fills a whole sheet, drawn as a clean outline from the same rounded letters used across Colouring Nest. Each one comes as a two-sheet PDF: a solid outline to colour in or cut out, and the same shape as a dotted line, which gives young children a clear path to follow with scissors.

Letters are as large as the page allows, so wide letters such as M and W print a little shorter than narrow ones; each page lists the exact height and width on A4 and US Letter. For a display where every letter must match, the alphabet PDF's overview page has all 52 letters at one shared size.

Use them for bulletin boards and classroom displays, name banners and door signs, letter-of-the-week crafts, birthday numbers, or as stencils traced onto card, felt or fabric.

Frequently asked questions

How big do the letters print?

Each letter fills an A4 or US Letter sheet inside the margins. Capital letters print 16–22 cm tall on A4 (6–8¼ in on Letter), except the extra-wide W, which is shorter. Every letter's page gives its exact height and width.

How do I print a template at the right size?

Open the PDF for your paper (A4 or US Letter) and print at 100% or "Actual size". "Fit to page" makes the letters a little smaller than the sizes listed.

Is there one PDF with every letter?

Yes. The alphabet PDF has all 26 capital and 26 lowercase letters, one per page, plus an overview sheet; the numbers PDF has 0 to 9.

What paper works best?

Plain printer paper is fine for colouring. For stencils and displays that last, print on thin card (160–200 gsm, or 65–110 lb cover stock).

Can I use them in class?

Yes, free of charge for home, school, library and community use. Please do not resell or republish the template files.
