Isometric graph paper

Need dots instead of lines? See dot grid paper. For pixel art, the pixel art grids fill the page with 16×16 to 64×64 squares. For writing, try handwriting paper; for times tables, the multiplication chart.

How to use these pages

For maths: one digit per square keeps columns lined up in addition, long multiplication and long division. Children aged about 6 to 9 manage best with 1 cm squares; older children use 5 mm or 1/4 inch. For graphs, use the coordinate planes, which come with axes and numbers already drawn, or plain squares when you choose your own scale.

For bullet journals and planning: 5 mm squares or the 5 mm dot grid make neat boxes for habit trackers, calendars and lists. For design: the 2 mm and millimetre paper give accurate floor plans and patterns, and isometric paper turns sketches into 3D views.

For pixel art and crafts: squares are pixels, stitches or beads. The pixel art grids are sized in squares (16×16 to 64×64) rather than millimetres, so the whole design fills the page.

Frequently asked questions

What size graph paper is most common?

In the US it is 1/4 inch squares (4 squares per inch, often called quad ruled). In the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand school maths books use 5 mm squares. Younger children often start on 1 cm squares.

Is the printed graph paper the exact size?

Yes. Each PDF is drawn separately for US Letter and for A4, so a 5 mm square measures 5 mm and a 1/4 inch square measures 1/4 inch on both papers when you print at 100% (actual size). We test that the line spacing in every PDF matches the stated size to within 0.1 mm. Each sheet has a 5 cm or 2 inch check bar to confirm your printer did not rescale it.

What is the difference between plain and bold-line graph paper?

Bold-line graph paper has a darker line every few squares, every inch on 1/4 and 1/5 inch paper and every centimetre on 5 mm and 2 mm paper, so you can count squares and read a scale at a glance. Plain paper has all lines the same weight, which looks calmer for drawing and writing.

What is isometric graph paper used for?

It is covered in equilateral triangles, so lines drawn along it run in the three directions of a cube. Maths classes use it to draw 3D shapes made of cubes; designers and artists use it for quick 3D sketches, game maps and tessellations.

Is there a PDF to print?

Yes. Every page has free vector PDFs for US Letter and A4, plus a PDF for each version (such as bold lines). The lines stay sharp at any printer resolution. Print at 100% (actual size).

Can I use this graph paper in my class or business?

Yes. Print as many copies as you need for home, school or your own work, free and without sign-up. Please don’t sell the files or upload them to another website.
