How to use these pages
Nonograms are picture logic puzzles, also called griddlers, hanjie or paint by numbers. The numbers beside each row and above each column tell you how many squares in a row to shade, in order; groups are separated by at least one empty square. Shade the right squares and a picture appears.
Every picture here is drawn from our own illustrations, in 10×10 grids for beginners and 15×15 grids for a longer puzzle. Each one has been checked to have only one answer and to be solvable by logic alone, one row or column at a time, with no guessing.
Solve on paper (the PDF has the answer key on page 2) or right here: tap squares to shade them, then color in the finished picture.
Frequently asked questions
How do you solve a nonogram?
Start with rows or columns whose numbers nearly fill the line: a 7 in a 10-square row must cover the middle 4 squares, wherever it starts. Shade squares you are sure of, put a dot in squares that must be empty, and keep switching between rows and columns.
What does a 0 mean?
That row or column has no shaded squares at all: dot every square in it.
What age are nonograms for?
The 10×10 puzzles suit most children from about age 7 with a little help, and the 15×15 puzzles from about 9. Adults enjoy them too.
Can I color the picture online?
Yes. Pick a color and tap squares to shade them. When the picture appears, choose other colors and color it in. Your work is saved on this device.
Is there a PDF to print?
Yes. Every page has free PDF downloads for US Letter and A4 paper, with the picture centered inside print-safe margins. Choose "Download PDF (Letter)" or "Download PDF (A4)" on the page and print at 100% (actual size).
