How to use these pages

Free printable sudoku in three sizes. Picture sudoku uses a 4×4 grid and four pictures instead of numbers, so children can play before they know their numbers; it comes with cut-out pieces. 6×6 sudoku uses the numbers 1 to 6 in 2×3 boxes, and the classic 9×9 puzzles come in easy, medium and hard.

Every puzzle has been checked by a computer solver to have exactly one solution, and graded by the logic it needs: easy and medium puzzles can be finished by finding the one number that fits a square or the one square that fits a number; hard puzzles also need pairs and “only in this row” reasoning, but never guessing.

Each page has the puzzle on page 1 of the PDF and the answer key on page 2, in US Letter and A4. Tap “Show solution” on the page to check online.

How do you play sudoku?

Fill the empty squares so that every row, every column and every box contains each number (or picture) exactly once. Start where a row, column or box is nearly full, and look for the one number that is missing.

What age is sudoku for?

Picture sudoku suits most children from about age 4, 6×6 sudoku from about 6, and easy 9×9 puzzles from about 8. Medium and hard 9×9 puzzles are for older kids, teens and adults.

Do these puzzles have only one answer?

Yes. Each one was checked by a solver that looks for a second solution, so there is exactly one way to fill the grid, and it can be found with logic rather than guesswork.
