How to make a paper crown

  1. Print both pages landscape at 100% (actual size), on card if you have it.
  2. Colour the crown front and the two bands.
  3. Cut out the crown and both bands, and cut the five slits on band 1 with the tip of the scissors (an adult job for small children).
  4. Glue or tape the grey “glue” end of band 1 behind the left end of the crown, and band 2 behind the right end.
  5. Try it on: push the tab on band 2 through the slit that fits, then fold the tab’s corners open so it holds.

Frequently asked questions

What size are the paper crowns?

The band has five slits that fit heads from about 45 cm to 53 cm round when printed on A4 (18¼ to 21½ in on US Letter), which covers most children from preschool up. For an adult, glue a paper strip between a band and the front.

How do I print a crown?

Print landscape at 100% or "Actual size". Page 1 is the crown front; page 2 has the two bands.

Do I need glue?

Glue or sticky tape joins the bands to the crown front. The tab and slits hold the back together, so the crown comes off and goes back on without tape.

Are the crowns free for a class party or a birthday?

Yes, free to print for home, school, parties and community events. Please do not resell or upload the files.
