How to make the bookmarks

  1. Print the page at 100% on card or thick paper (160–200 gsm, or 65–110 lb cover stock) so the bookmarks are stiff; plain paper works too.
  2. Colour the words and pictures with pencils, crayons or felt tips. Felt tips can show through thin paper, so colour on a scrap sheet.
  3. Cut round each bookmark along its outline.
  4. Punch the small circle with a hole punch and tie on a ribbon, a piece of wool or a tassel.

Ideas: hand them out at a library visit or for a reading-week challenge, add a child's name on the back, or laminate them so they last all year.
