Printable Christmas gifts to colour and make

Six gifts you can make this week from free printable pages: a framed mandala, hand-coloured cards, gift tags, a colouring kit for a grandparent, a car-trip activity pack and a thank-you for the teacher. Everything here prints on A4 or US Letter at home.

A framed mandala

Print a snowflake or star mandala on thin card (160 to 200 gsm) at 100% scale, colour it with pencils or fine-tip pens, and put it in a standard frame: A4 sheets fit an A4 frame, US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame or an 8 × 10 in frame with a mat. Sign and date the back. It takes an evening or two and looks like a gift, not a worksheet.

Hand-coloured Christmas cards

Our message pages print as a flat sheet: fold it in half, or trim the coloured panel and glue it onto a folded piece of card. Children can colour one for each grandparent while you write the inside.

Gift tags and tree decorations

Print a sheet of Christmas gift tags (to colour in, or already in colour), or the small size of a shape template on card: colour it, cut it out, punch a hole and thread ribbon or string through. Ornaments, stars and holly leaves double as tags on presents and as decorations afterwards.

A colouring kit for a grandparent

Print ten bold and easy pages and a couple of large-print word searches, clip them together and add a set of coloured pencils with a good grip. It suits someone in a rest home as well as someone at home, and the pages are easy to see.

A car-trip activity pack for the holidays

For long drives to the bach, the beach or the in-laws, staple a few Christmas activity sheets into a booklet with a pencil tucked in: word searches, colour by number and a dot to dot. In Australia and New Zealand the summer holidays make this the most useful printable of the season.

A thank-you for the teacher

A card a child coloured themselves means more than most end-of-year gifts. Print the teacher appreciation page, let them colour it and write a line inside.

Use the PDF on each page rather than printing from the browser: it is sized for A4 or US Letter with even margins. Choose “actual size” or 100% in the print dialog. For anything you will frame or post, print on thin card and let ink dry for a minute before colouring. Our printing guide has the details for common printers.

If you’d rather print a ready-made set

These printable packs from our shop have pages that aren’t on the free site. They are optional; every gift above works with the free pages.

Questions

Can I give printed pages as a gift?

Yes. You can print the free pages and give the printed, coloured copies to family and friends. Please don’t sell them, or post the files on another website.

What paper should I use for a framed page?

Thin card or heavy paper, 160 to 200 gsm (about 60 to 75 lb cover), so pencils and pens don’t show through. Print at 100% or “actual size”, not “fit to page”, so the margins stay even.

Can I sell cards I colour from these pages?

No. The pages are free for personal, home-school and classroom use only. If you want to make products for sale, our shop has a mandala pack with a commercial licence.

Are the shop packs needed for these gifts?

No. Every idea on this page works with the free pages. The packs are there if you would rather print one ready-made set.
