About Republic Day

Republic Day, on 26 January, marks the day in 1950 when the Constitution of India came into force. It is a national holiday, with flag hoisting at schools and the parade in New Delhi.

Our flag follows the Flag Code of India: three equal bands of India saffron, white and India green, a navy blue Ashoka Chakra with 24 equally spaced spokes in the centre of the white band, and a length to height ratio of 3:2. We draw it whole, upright with saffron at the top, and with nothing written on it, as the Flag Code asks. Please colour it the same way.
