How to use these pages

For a party of mixed ages, start with something everyone can play at once: picture bingo works from age three, and the large-print word bingo suits grandparents. Then split into teams for a quiz: the family Christmas quiz and the true or false quiz are easy enough for children, and the trivia questions for adults, the British Christmas quiz and the Christmas around the world quiz are for older teams.

Games that get people moving, like the scavenger hunts, are good while dinner is cooking. Quiet games, like the I spy sheets, the memory cards and a word search race (first to find every word wins), are good for the table afterwards. Print everything a day ahead and keep each game in its own envelope with pencils.

Running a class party instead? The Christmas printables planner has a plan for a one-hour class party with how many sheets to print, and the Christmas activity sheets have quieter puzzles and colouring for early finishers. For 31 December, see the New Year’s Eve games.

Frequently asked questions

What are good Christmas party games for adults?

A Christmas quiz in teams is the easiest to run: print the trivia questions for adults or the British Christmas quiz, keep the answer key with the quizmaster and score out of 20. Word bingo and a hard word search race also work well for grown-ups.

What games work for kids and adults together?

Picture bingo, the family Christmas quiz, the true or false quiz and the memory game. Put a child and a grown-up on each team for the quizzes.

Do I need anything besides the printouts?

Pencils, and counters for bingo (buttons, coins or sweets). Card stock helps if you want to keep the bingo and memory cards for next year.
