Quarter-inch dots are a little more open than 5 mm: good for larger handwriting, sketchnotes, UI wireframes and lettering practice. Print a stack and punch it for a binder or a disc-bound planner.

Both PDFs are drawn at actual size: 1/4 inch between dots on US Letter and on A4. Print at 100% (“Actual size”, not “Fit to page”) and measure the check bar at the top of the sheet.

Printing tips

  • Print at 100% or "Actual size". "Fit to page" shrinks the sheet by a few percent and the squares stop being exact.
  • Measure the check bar at the top of the sheet with a ruler: if it is 5 cm (or 2 in), every square is the stated size.
  • Use the A4 PDF on A4 paper and the Letter PDF on Letter paper; both are drawn to the same exact sizes.
