Nine blank clocks, each with a time above it in words and in figures, such as “quarter to six” and 5:45. Children draw the short hour hand and the long minute hand to show each time. Quarter past: the long hand points to 3, a quarter of the way round. Quarter to: it points to 9, with a quarter of the hour left before the next hour.

How to do this worksheet
- Read the time and find the hour on the clock.
- Draw the long minute hand first, from the dot to the right minute mark.
- Then draw the short hour hand. After the o’clock level it sits part of the way towards the next number, not on the hour itself.
The nine times on this sheet
- 5:45 (quarter to six)
- 8:15 (quarter past eight)
- 4:45 (quarter to five)
- 12:15 (quarter past twelve)
- 3:00 (three o’clock)
- 10:45 (quarter to eleven)
- 1:30 (half past one)
- 9:15 (quarter past nine)
- 11:30 (half past eleven)
Quarter past: the long hand points to 3, a quarter of the way round. Quarter to: it points to 9, with a quarter of the hour left before the next hour. The answer key is page 2 of the PDF.
