A clock poster for the classroom wall or the front of a maths book. The right half of the clock is shaded “past” and the left half “to”, and every five minutes is labelled round the outside: five past, ten past, quarter past, twenty past, twenty-five past, half past, then twenty-five to, twenty to, quarter to, ten to and five to the next hour.

Using the past and to chart
- Up to half past, say how many minutes have gone past the hour: twenty past three.
- After half past, say how many minutes are left to the next hour: twenty to four.
- Point to the 3 and say “quarter past”; point to the 9 and say “quarter to”.
In the US, times are usually read straight from the figures: 3:40 is “three forty”. Both ways are right, and the worksheets show both. The chart prints 10 cm on A4 (4 in on US Letter) across.

Printing tips
- Print at 100% (actual size); the PDFs are already set up for US Letter and A4.
- Print the clock face on card stock and slip it into a plastic sleeve to use with a dry-erase marker again and again.
- Keep the make-your-own clock beside the worksheets so children can set each time before writing it.
