A classic wind-up alarm clock with two bells, a hammer, a handle and little feet, and the hands at seven o’clock: time to get up. Colour it online or on paper, then talk about the day: what time do you wake up, and what does the clock look like then?

Talk about the time while colouring

  • Which number is the short hour hand pointing to? Which one is the long minute hand on?
  • What time do you have breakfast? Draw that time on a blank clock face.
  • Count round the clock in fives from the 12: 5, 10, 15, 20, up to 60.

When the colouring is done, move on to the o’clock worksheet or make a paper clock with hands.

Printing tips

  • Print at 100% (actual size); the PDFs are already set up for US Letter and A4.
  • Print the clock face on card stock and slip it into a plastic sleeve to use with a dry-erase marker again and again.
  • Keep the make-your-own clock beside the worksheets so children can set each time before writing it.
