Nine clocks showing half past times, with a few o’clock times mixed in. Children read the hands, write the time in figures in the two boxes, such as 3:30, and in words on the line, such as “half past three”. At half past the long hand points down to 6, and the short hand sits halfway between two numbers: at half past three it is between 3 and 4.

How to do this worksheet
- Look at the short hand first: it tells the hour. If it is between two numbers, the hour is the smaller one (between 12 and 1 counts as 12).
- Then look at the long hand to find the minutes.
- Write the time in figures in the boxes, then in words on the line.
The nine times on this sheet

- 8:30 (half past eight)

At half past the long hand points down to 6, and the short hand sits halfway between two numbers: at half past three it is between 3 and 4. The answer key is page 2 of the PDF.
