Roll a Christmas Tree: roll one die and draw the part of the tree that matches the number (1 = a tree, 2 = a star, 3 = 5 baubles, 4 = 5 lights, 5 = 3 presents, 6 = a candy cane). Fill in a dot for each part you draw, and the first to finish the whole tree wins. A full tree takes 16 parts. The PDF has a one-player sheet, a two-player sheet and the finished tree to colour, for children from about four to nine, at home or as a Christmas class party game.

  2. Take turns to roll. Find the number on the table and draw that part of your tree, then fill in one of its dots.
  3. You need a 1 to start. If all the dots for your number are already filled, pass the die on.
  4. The first player to fill every dot and finish the tree wins. Then colour it in!

Questions about roll and draw games

How do you play roll a christmas tree?

Roll one die. The table says which part that number is: 1 is the tree, 2 is the star, 3 is a bauble, 4 is a light, 5 is a present, 6 is the candy cane. Draw that part and fill in one of its dots. You need a 1 to start, and once all of a part's dots are filled the roll is skipped. The first to finish wins.

How many players can play?

One player can play alone, two can share the two-player sheet, and a class can play in pairs or small groups with a sheet each and one die per table.

What age is it for?

About four to nine. Younger children can play with a grown-up reading the table; older children can race each other or play to finish in the fewest rolls.
