Maze Games Online for Kids

Free maze games to play online, with no download or sign-up. Guide a picture (a squirrel to its acorn, a rocket to the moon, a penguin to its igloo) from the start at the top to the finish at the bottom. Choose a size by age: Tiny 5 × 5 for ages 3 to 4, Easy for 5 to 6, Medium for 7 to 9, and Hard 22 × 25 for older children and adults. Move with the arrow keys, swipe on a phone or tablet, or drag along the path; your trail shows where you have been, and going back rubs it out. Every maze has exactly one way through, there is no time limit, and Hint shows the next few steps. The Easy, Medium and Hard mazes 1 to 30 are also our printable mazes with answers.

How to play mazes online

  1. Pick a size (or play today’s maze). Your picture starts at the top; the goal is at the bottom.
  2. Move one square at a time with the arrow keys. Hold Shift (or press Space then an arrow) to glide along a corridor to the next turn.
  3. On a phone or tablet, swipe in a direction to glide to the next turn, or drag your finger along the path. With a mouse, drag along the path or click a square further along a straight corridor.
  4. Your trail shows the way you came. Step back along it to rub it out when you hit a dead end.
  5. Reach the goal to win. Stuck? “Hint” lights up the next few squares of the way from where you are.

    Mazes online tips and strategy

    • Look at the goal first, then follow the path back towards the start with your eyes.
    • Keep one hand on the wall: in a maze with no loops, like these, following the same wall always gets you to the goal (just not by the shortest way).
    • Look ahead for dead ends before you set off down a long corridor.
    • Little ones: start with the Tiny 5 × 5 mazes and a grown-up pointing.

Print our free printable mazes: easy, medium and hard square mazes with answers, plus circle, hexagon and triangle mazes. More to print: dot to dot and I spy.

    Questions

Which maze size is right for my child?

Tiny (5 × 5) suits 3 and 4 year olds, often with a grown-up helping. Easy (8 × 9) is for ages 5 to 6, Medium (14 × 16) for ages 7 to 9, and Hard (22 × 25) for older children and adults. On a phone, the smaller sizes are easier because the paths are wider.

Does every maze have a way through?

Yes, exactly one. Each maze is a “perfect” maze: every square can be reached, and there is only one route between any two squares, so there are no loops to get lost in, only dead ends to back out of.

    Can I print these mazes?

Yes. Easy, Medium and Hard mazes 1 to 30 are the same as our printable mazes, each with an answer key; the link under the game opens the one you are playing. There are also circle, hexagon and triangle mazes to print.

What do mazes help children learn?

Mazes ask children to plan ahead, look for dead ends and try again when a way is blocked. On paper they also practise steady pencil control. Our tiny and easy mazes are a gentle start, with wide paths and only a few turns.

    Is it safe for children?

Yes. There is no chat, no account, no in-game purchases and no links to other sites. Adverts on the page are non-personalised and sit below the game, away from where children tap.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up or download anything?

It is free and plays in your web browser on a computer, tablet or phone. There is nothing to download and no account. Your stats are kept in this browser only. A few adverts on the page, kept well away from the game, pay for the site.
