How the daily puzzles work
Each game has one puzzle a day, the same for everyone on the same date. Your time starts when you make your first move and pauses if you leave the page. Solve a puzzle on its day without showing the answers and your streak goes up; your times and streaks are kept in this browser only, so there is nothing to sign up for.
The words come from our own list of everyday words with plain, friendly clues, grouped into themes like the garden, baking, birds and the seaside. Every puzzle is checked by a program before it goes up: each sudoku has exactly one solution, every crossword square belongs to a clued answer, every scramble unscrambles to a word on our list, and nothing rude can turn up in a grid.
For printing, every game has PDF buttons for US Letter and A4 with an optional answer key. Large-print fans can press “Larger text” on any game, and our large print word searches and large print sudoku have even bigger type. Activity coordinators: the seniors and care homes page collects everything that prints well for a group.
Questions
When do the puzzles change?
At midnight where you are. The page uses the date on your own device, so everyone gets the same puzzle on the same calendar day, wherever they live.
Do I need an account?
No. Your times, solved puzzles and streaks are kept in your browser on this device only. Nothing about your answers is sent to us. If you clear your browser data, they start again.
How does the streak work?
Solve a game on the day it comes out without pressing “Show answers” and your streak for that game goes up by one. Miss a day and it starts again. Past puzzles from the archive are there to enjoy but don’t change your streak.
Can I print the puzzles?
Yes. Every game has “Download PDF” buttons for US Letter and A4 paper. Tick the box to add an answer key page. Print at 100% (actual size).
Are these puzzles free?
Yes, free for personal, family, classroom and care-home use. The pages show a few adverts, kept away from the puzzles, which pay for the site.
