End of the year: I have grown

How to use these pages

Pick the sheet that suits the child: the preschool page has six big boxes to draw and colour in, with only a name line to write; the ages 5 to 7 sheet adds short sentences to finish; the ages 8 to 11 sheet has more prompts and room to write. The first day of school sheet has a blank for the Year or Grade, so the same page works from new entrants and kindergarten to the last year of primary school.

Most sheets come in two versions. The New Zealand and Australia sheets say Year, colour and favourite, and the “I have grown” pair measures height in centimetres; they suit the UK too. The US sheets say Grade, color and favorite, and measure in inches.

The “I have grown” pair is one PDF with two pages: fill in the first page in the first weeks of school and keep it, then fill in the second at the end of the year and put them side by side. Children draw around their hand on both pages, write their name and record their height, so the change is easy to see.

Frequently asked questions

What is an “all about me” worksheet for?

It is a first-week activity: children tell their teacher and classmates who they are by drawing and writing about themselves, their family and the things they like. Teachers use the finished sheets to learn names and interests and to start conversations, and many put them up on the wall.

Which sheet should I use for my child’s age?

For ages 3 to 5 use the preschool sheet, which is all drawing and colouring. For ages 5 to 7 use the sheet with writing lines and short sentences to finish. For ages 8 to 11 use the sheet with more prompts. The first day of school, family, favourites and self-portrait pages work for every age.

Do the sheets ask for personal details?

Only a first name. There are no lines for a surname, address, phone number or school name, and no photos: children draw themselves instead. The birthday line asks for the month only.

When do I give out the “I have grown” pages?

Print both pages together. Children fill in “Me at the start of the year” in the first weeks of school, the teacher or parent keeps it, and they fill in “Me at the end of the year” in the last weeks. In New Zealand and Australia that is February and December; in the US, August or September and May or June.

Are these all about me worksheets free for my class?

Yes. Print as many copies as you need for home, home school or your classroom. There is no sign-up or email. Please don’t resell them or upload them to another website.

Is there a PDF to print?

Yes. Every page has free PDF downloads for US Letter and A4 paper, with the picture centered inside print-safe margins. Choose "Download PDF (Letter)" or "Download PDF (A4)" on the page and print at 100% (actual size).
