For children starting to write: a box to draw themselves, then short sentences to finish on writing lines: my eyes are, my hair is, my favourite colour, food and animal, and what I am good at. Two boxes at the bottom ask what they want to be when they grow up and what makes them happy, with room to draw as well as write.

How to use this sheet

  • Read each sentence together first, then let children finish it with a word or a drawing.
  • Fill one in about yourself and show it first: children love finding out about their teacher.
  • Pin the finished sheets up in a “meet the class” display, or keep them to compare with an end-of-year page.

This is the New Zealand and Australia version: it says Year, colour and favourite, and suits UK classrooms too. A US version says Grade, color and favorite.

Use on your class or library site
