A page for the first day of any school year. Children write the grade they are starting (K for kindergarten, or 1 to 6), the date, their first name, their age and their teacher’s name, draw themselves on their first day and say what they are excited to learn. At the bottom they circle a face for how they feel: happy, excited, nervous or not sure, or draw their own.

Ideas for the first day
- Hand it out as a calm first activity while families say goodbye.
- Talk about the feelings faces first: it is fine to feel nervous and excited at the same time.
- Keep the sheets and give them back at the end of the year, next to an I have grown page.
This is the US version: it says Grade, color and favorite. The New Zealand and Australia version says Year, colour and favourite.
