5 mm Graph Paper

5 mm Graph Paper has squares exactly 5 mm wide (2 squares per centimetre) on both the US Letter and the A4 PDF, as long as you print at 100% (actual size): 39 × 44 on US Letter and 37 × 47 on A4.

Tip: for exact sizes, download the Letter or A4 PDF and print it at 100% (“Actual size”). “Print this page” prints from the browser, which scales the sheet to fit.

5 mm squares are the standard squared paper of maths exercise books in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand: one digit per square, and room for graphs with 1 cm major lines. There is a second version with bold lines every 1 cm, for counting squares at a glance. A check bar at the top of each sheet shows whether your printer kept the scale.

Printing tips

  • Print at 100% or "Actual size". "Fit to page" shrinks the sheet by a few percent and the squares stop being exact.
  • Measure the check bar at the top of the sheet with a ruler: if it is 5 cm (or 2 in), every square is the stated size.
  • Use the A4 PDF on A4 paper and the Letter PDF on Letter paper; both are drawn to the same exact sizes.
