A no-bake gingerbread house: colour the walls, door, windows and gumdrops, cut round the outline, fold on the dashes and glue. The walls are one strip with glue tabs, and the roof folds at the ridge. Printed at 100% the finished house is 2.25 × 1.5 in on US Letter (5.4 × 3.9 cm on A4), a nice size for a table setting, a windowsill village or a Christmas tree.

How to make the paper house

  1. Print at 100% (Actual size), on thin card if you have it (160–200 gsm, or 65–110 lb cover stock).
  2. Colour the house, door, windows, sweets and roof before cutting.
  3. Cut round the solid outline. An adult can score the dashed fold lines with a blunt knife and a ruler so they fold crisply.
  4. Fold the walls into a box and glue the grey side tab behind the last wall.
  5. Fold the grey gable flaps inwards, add glue, fold the roof at the ridge and press it onto the flaps.

Printing tips

  • Print at 100% (actual size) so the shapes match the sizes listed.
  • Thin card (160–200 gsm) makes sturdy stencils and decorations.
  • Fold the paper and cut two layers at once for matching pairs.
  • Paper snowflakes are the exception: use thin printer or origami paper, because every cut goes through 12 layers.
