How to use these pages

Third grade is the multiplication year. Children learn what multiplying and dividing mean, then learn the facts to 10 × 10 by heart and use them everywhere else: area is rows times columns, a picture graph with a key of 2 is counting in twos, and dividing is a multiplication fact read backwards. Alongside that come fractions as numbers on a number line, rounding to the nearest 10 and 100, measuring to the nearest half inch, reading scaled bar graphs and line plots, and telling time to the minute.

A good order is the multiplication facts first (a few minutes a day all year), then division, then area, which uses the facts straight away. Fractions, measuring and graphs can run alongside. Short and often works best: one sheet of 15 to 20 minutes, marked with page 2 the same day.

Still building second grade skills? The review group above has arrays, equal groups and hundreds, tens and ones, and the counting coins to a dollar and skip counting by 3s sheets help too. Moving on to fourth grade? The last group has 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication, adding fractions and expanded form to 10,000. For younger children see the second grade math worksheets and the first grade math worksheets; for every age, the homeschool printables and worksheets for teachers.
