Eight rows of little Christmas trees with some of them crossed out. Children count all the trees for the first number, the crossed-out trees for the number taken away, and the trees left standing for the answer, then write the number sentence in the boxes. Seeing the trees that are left makes taking away concrete before children meet it as bare numbers. Everything is within 10.
