Twenty-one number cards from 0 to 20 with a big, bright numeral on each front. The back shows the number word and the same number in ten frames, the five-by-two boxes used in classrooms, so children see that 7 is “five and two more” and 14 is “ten and four more”. Read the numeral, guess how it looks in the frames, then turn over to check. The cards also make a number line for the floor or the wall.

How to print and use these cards
The PDF has 6 pages: 3 sheets of 9 card fronts, each followed by its backs. Print double-sided and flip on the long edge, or glue each back page to its front before cutting. Then cut on the dashed lines.
Ways to play
- Lay the cards in order from 0 to 20 along the floor, then take one away while the child closes their eyes: which number is missing?
- Turn a card over and count the dots in the ten frames before reading the numeral on the front.
- Pick two cards: which number is bigger? Check by counting the dots on the backs.

- Keep each set in an envelope or a zip bag, and write the set’s name on it.
- Mix in two or three cards a child already knows, so every practice starts with a win.
