The same 16 feelings as our emotion cards, with only the face on the front and the word on the back. Picture-only cards suit children who are not reading yet, children who don’t speak much or are learning English, and guessing games where the word would give the answer away. Point to a face or hand one over to say how you feel; turn it over to read the word together and the prompt beneath it.

How to print and use these cards

The PDF has 4 pages: 2 sheets of 9 card fronts, each followed by its backs. Print double-sided and flip on the long edge, or glue each back page to its front before cutting. Then cut on the dashed lines.

Ways to play

  • Show a face and ask “What do you think this person is feeling?” before turning it over.
  • Make a simple board: stick three or four faces on a sheet so a child can point to one.
  • Play snap with two printed sets, naming the feeling on every match.

Printing tips

  • Print one sheet double-sided first to check how your printer lines up the backs.
  • Keep each set in an envelope or a zip bag, and write the set’s name on it.
  • Mix in two or three cards a child already knows, so every practice starts with a win.
