All 66 subtraction facts within 10, from 0 − 0 to 10 − 10, twelve to a sheet with each answer on the back. Subtraction is easiest when it is thought of as addition: 9 − 4 asks “4 and what make 9?”. Practise these cards alongside the addition set, and start with taking away 0, 1 and 2, then the facts from 10 (10 − 3, 10 − 6), then the rest.

How to print and use these cards
The PDF has 12 pages: 6 sheets of 12 card fronts, each followed by its backs. Print double-sided and flip on the long edge, or glue each back page to its front before cutting. Then cut on the dashed lines.
Ways to play
- Practise “10 take away” facts first: they mirror the pairs that make 10.
- For each card, say the addition fact that goes with it: 9 − 4 = 5 because 4 + 5 = 9.
- Act a card out with small toys: start with 8, take 3 away, count what is left.
