Every state marked with its two-letter postal abbreviation, the codes used on envelopes and forms: TX for Texas, NY for New York, MI for Michigan. The abbreviations are short enough to fit inside almost every state, so this map stays clear and uncluttered. It is handy for learning the codes that are easy to mix up, like MA, ME, MD, MI, MN, MS, MO and MT.

Abbreviations that trip people up
- MA is Massachusetts and ME is Maine; MD is Maryland.
- MI is Michigan, MN Minnesota, MS Mississippi, MO Missouri and MT Montana.
- AK is Alaska and AR Arkansas; AL is Alabama.
- IA is Iowa, ID Idaho, IL Illinois and IN Indiana.
