Twelve questions in three columns. Before: write the number one less. After: write the number one more. Between: write the number that sits in the middle of two others. All the numbers are between 11 and 99, so children practise one more and one less across the tens, like 70 before 71. A number line or hundreds chart on the table helps. Page 2 is the answer key.

Tips for this counting worksheet

  • Before means one less, after means one more.
  • Between is the number in the middle: it is one more than the first number.
  • Use a number line or hundreds chart to check the tricky ones across a ten.

Page 2 of the PDF is the answer key. The ten frames and number 1 to 20 coloring pages practise the same counting. When this sheet feels easy, move on to the skip counting by 10s and odd or even pictures worksheets. See all counting worksheets.
