Six everyday things on the left, a clock, a slice of pizza, a door, a window, an egg and a stop sign, and six shapes on the right in a different order. Children draw a line from each thing to the shape it looks like: the clock is a circle, the pizza slice a triangle, the door a rectangle, the window a square, the egg an oval and the stop sign an octagon. Then go on a shape hunt round the room. Page 2 shows the lines.

Tips for this shapes worksheet

  • Name each thing first, then trace its outline in the air with a finger.
  • Draw the lines with a ruler for neat matches.
  • Afterwards, find one more thing in the room for each shape.

Page 2 of the PDF is the answer key. For first shapes, the shape flash cards have the name and sides on the back. When this sheet feels easy, move on to the sides and corners worksheet and the 3D shapes coloring page. See all shapes worksheets.
