The six solid shapes children meet first, drawn big with their names: cube, sphere, cone, cylinder, pyramid and rectangular prism. Every face you can see is its own space to color, so children notice that a cube shows three faces at once and a cylinder has a flat circle on top. Dashed lines show the edges hidden at the back. Color each face a different shade to make the shapes look solid, online or on the printed PDF.

Tips for this shapes coloring page

  • Color each face a different shade of the same color so the shape looks solid.
  • Find something at home with each shape: a ball, a can, a box, a party hat.
  • Ask which shapes could roll and which could stack.

Color it online, or print the one-page PDF. Cut-out shape templates make good counters for sorting and patterns. When this sheet feels easy, move on to the name the shapes worksheet and the 2D and 3D shapes worksheet. See all shapes worksheets.
