Sixteen pairs of fractions with no pictures, such as 5/8 and 3/8, 2/5 and 2/9, or 3/12 and 1/4. Children decide whether the first is greater than, less than or equal to the second and write the sign. With the same bottom number, compare the tops; with the same top number, the smaller bottom number wins; and some pairs are equal. Check any doubtful pair on the fraction wall.

Tips for this fraction worksheet
- Same bottom number: the bigger top number is bigger.
- Same top number: the smaller bottom number is bigger, because the parts are bigger.
- Not sure? Change one fraction so the bottoms match.
Page 2 of the PDF is the answer key. The fraction number lines show the same fractions as distances from 0 to 1. When this sheet feels easy, move on to the adding fractions sheet. See all fraction worksheets.
