Thirty facts that all use 0 or 1, mixed with numbers up to 12: 7 × 0, 1 × 9, 0 × 12. Two rules cover every one of them: any number times 0 is 0 (seven groups of nothing is nothing), and any number times 1 stays the same. Some facts put the 0 or 1 first and some second, so children see that the order does not change the answer. The tricky one is 0 × 1, which is 0.
