Spider Solitaire 2 Suits: Free Online

Spider solitaire with 2 suits uses spades and hearts: two packs of cards in ten columns, and you build runs from King down to Ace in one suit. It is the step between the easy 1-suit game and hard 4-suit Spider, and the level most regular players settle on. Ours is free, plays in your browser with no download or sign-up, starts on 2 suits, and has large cards, a “Larger print” button, and unlimited Undo and Hint. Every 2-suit deal here has been won by our solver program, so every game can be won.

How to play spider solitaire 2 suits

  1. Clear the table by building eight runs, each from King down to Ace in one suit. A finished run leaves the table by itself.
  2. Put a card on any card one higher, whatever its suit: a 6 on any 7. Any card or run can go in an empty column.
  3. Only a run of one suit, each card one lower, moves together. Mixed suits have to be moved one part at a time, so build in one suit when you can.
  4. Tap the stock (top left) to deal one more card onto every column. You can only deal when no column is empty. There are five deals in the stock.
  5. Tap a card (or a run) to select it, then tap the column to put it on. Tap it again, or double-click it, to send it to the best place. You can also drag cards.
  6. Keyboard: arrow keys move between the stock and the columns, Enter picks up the bottom card (Up arrow adds more cards of the run), Enter on another column puts it there, Enter twice sends it to the best place, U undoes, Escape cancels.

Spider solitaire 2 suits tips and strategy

    • Build in suit whenever you can. A 6 of hearts on a 7 of spades is allowed, but that pair can only move together if it is all one suit, so mixed runs get stuck.
    • Repair mixed runs: when the same-suit card turns up (the other 7 of hearts, say), move the lower part of the run across onto it.
    • Use empty columns as a sorting space: park a mixed run there and rebuild it as one suit before moving it back.
    • There are four of each card per suit in 2-suit Spider (eight in all). Before dealing, check how many of the card you need are still hidden.
    • Dealing from the stock lays a card on every column and can bury good runs, so finish your useful moves first.

    Questions

How is 2-suit Spider different from 1 suit?

With 1 suit every card is a spade, so any card goes on any card one higher and runs always move together. With 2 suits you can still put a 6 of hearts on a 7 of spades, but only a run of one suit moves as a group, so you have to plan which cards go where and repair mixed runs.

Can every 2-suit deal be won?

Every deal we offer can. Plenty of random 2-suit deals cannot be won, so we only use deals our solver program has won, and you can always Undo and try another way.

How do I win at 2-suit Spider?

Uncover face-down cards, empty a column early, and build in suit whenever you can. The tips below go through it step by step.

Can I switch to 1 or 4 suits?

Yes: use the Suits menu above the game. 1-suit Spider is the gentlest start and 4-suit Spider the hardest.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up or download anything?

It is free and plays in your web browser on a computer, tablet or phone. There is nothing to download and no account. Your stats are kept in this browser only. A few adverts on the page, kept well away from the game, pay for the site.
