Twelve numbers written in words, six in the hundreds and six in the thousands, to write in standard form (in digits). The tricky ones have a missing place: “four hundred six” is 406, and “three thousand fifty-two” is 3,052, with a zero holding the hundreds place. Children can sketch a quick place value chart for any they are unsure of.

Tips for this place value worksheet
- Read the words in groups: thousands, then hundreds, then the rest.
- A place that is not said gets a 0.
- Write each answer in a quick place value chart first if it helps.
Page 2 of the PDF is the answer key. The 0–100 number line in tens helps with rounding. When this sheet feels easy, move on to the addition and subtraction worksheets and the times tables. See all place value worksheets.
